A few months ago, I came upon Jinn and Juice by Nicole Peeler at Barnes and Noble. Intrigued by the fact that it was an urban fantasy novel with a female jinn protagonist (who is also a belly dancer at nightclub catering to magical sorts like fey, lycanthropes, and succubi), I decided to pick it up. It was a fun, fairly quick read - personally, I wished (no pun intended) that there could have been a few more scenes with Lyla performing.

During one of my life drawing practice sessions, I decided to recreate the novel's cover art - albeit altering Lyla's outfit to look more like a cabaret-style bedlah. I really admire the lifelike rendition of the character by the original artist Nathalia Suellen - this made for some excellent practice.
