Hello everyone...
I mark last summer as the time that I really got serious about doing digital art (being solidly rooted in traditional media). This was largely in part thanks to the inspiration I gleaned from all the fan art of MLP: Fim and Equestria Girls. Almost befittingly, this summer marks my first real use of a Wacom Tablet.
For a while, I've been rather hesitant to using it for digital inking due to the uneven look I often get when I attempt to draw smooth lines (I prefer to use the Pen and Stroke Fill tools). Apparently, this is linked to the RAM available (I seem to get smoother lines on my MacBook than on my PC). And, it's most likely a matter of me just getting accustomed to drawing with a stylus instead of a mechanical pencil.
On that note, I continue to experiment with other methods of coloring and digital painting - more than anything, to achieve a softer look than the old fashioned cel-shaded look of much of my colored work.
A few have inquired about commissions - yes folks, commissions remain open! The link to my guidelines are at the bottom of this entry.
Hope everyone in the Northern Hemisphere is beating the heat!
More as The Wheel turns.
Best,
Edgard

Slow but steady progress
Already more than a year since my last DA journal post - how time flies. I hope everyone out there is doing well. I have been dealing with A LOT in my personal life - more than I ever have before. Without going into details, I will say that the past year has been a battle. Through it all, however, I continue with my artistic (re-)training. As many of you may have noticed, I have been focusing on traditional media: watercolor paints, ink pens and brushes, and my long-dormant Copic and Prismacolor markers. I likewise continue chipping away at my personal project. I have been able to make a good amount of progress on it, even with delays brought on by my IRL obligations. I still have a lot of touching up to do, but I hope to have a little something to share here soon. As such, I have not been able to write or draw as much MLP/EqG fan fiction or art as I would like to. I still have plenty of concepts that I want to put down on paper. As always, I shall post it as it flows. On the
Yes, I Am Still Here
Hello all. My apologies if I have been especially quiet of late. I am currently working on a project that is taking up a great deal of my free time (in addition to my day job and IRL obligations). I am keeping this endeavor very close to my vest. I will say, however, that it is NOT a fan work, but something completely original - and especially dear to me. I will not say more than that at this time. I learned a long time ago that it is better to show rather than tell. As such, unfortunately, I am still closed for commissions. My hope is that when I do open up again that I can produce higher quality work than what I currently have in my gallery. I thank you all for your understanding and continued support. Hope everyone out there is well. Here’s to making 2023 a wonderful year all around!
Still At It
Hey all! It's been a while since I last posted a journal. As always, there is plenty IRL to keep me busy. These days I am not always able to reply to my correspondence as quickly as I would like - for that I apologize. I continue to focus most of my free time and energy on my artistic (re-)training. I'm still working with watercolor paints and recently began practicing with India ink. I will share some of my more noteworthy homework pieces here on DA as they come. Over the last couple of months, I have been working on another Equestria Girls fanfic - a silly installment in my EqG belly dance series. I will post it on FiMFiction once it is complete. In the meantime, enjoy the cover image: Speaking of fanfics, I was pleasantly surprised to find a reading of my first ever Equestria Girls fanfic, Cheering Section by StraightToThePointStudio on YouTube: Be sure to check out more of StraightToThePointStudio's MLP fanfic readings! Commissions Closed
My hearty thanks to each and every one of you who commissioned me over these last couple of weeks - you know who you are! ;) For now, I must focus my attention on my continuing art education AKA my (Re-)Training, along with a few other pressing concerns IRL. If and when I open up for commissions again, as always, I will announce it with a post right here on my DA journal. Hope everyone out there is staying safe and healthy! Hard to believe that we are already in September. After how 2020 seemed to drag on, this year feels like it is just blazing by!

Digital art is always kind of a hard curve to learn But once you get used to it, it's PRETTY NICE! The undo button is my best friend hahaha. I wish you luck in your endeavors though! And looking forward to seeing the result of your hard work
